Elizabeth Bugie Gregory (1920-2001) american biochemist. She studied Microbiology at the University for Women in New Jersey. She worked in Waksman's laboratory to find the antidote for tuberculosis. Together with Albert Schatz and Selman Waksman she identified streptomycin as the first antibiotic against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The patent document does not bear her name, and they justified it by the fact that as a woman she would one day get married and have children. Selman Waksman won the Nobel Prize and took the credit along with a lot of the money. Elizabeth only got 0.2% of the patent rights.
