Ernest Gerald Gibbins (Liverpool, 1900 – Uganda, 1942) was a British entomologist who studied tropical diseases and discovered 26 new species of insects. While researching in Uganda, he was hacked to death by members of the Lugbara tribe, who thought he was going to use their blood samples for witchcraft. A year later, his insect collection would be presented in the Natural History Museum in London.
