Alan Mathison Turing (London, 1912 – Wilmslow, 1954) was a mathematician, cryptographer, philosopher and marathon runner. He is considered to be one of the forefathers of computer science and a precursor for modern information technology. During the Second World War he worked on deciphering Nazi codes. He was put on trial for homosexuality and the official version goes that he died two years after being charged, although there are suspicions that he was actually murdered.
