Vela Junior is one of the few supernova remains analyzed in its entire electromagnetic spectrum, from radio frequencies to very high energy gamma rays. The relative proximity of this supernova remnant, its large size and its strong non-thermal emission make this remnant one of the main sources used for the study of particle acceleration and emission mechanisms in supernova remains.
