In 393, during the reign of Taiyuan, Chinese astronomers observed a new star that was visible for more than 200 days. This timeline rules out the hypothesis that this event was caused by a comet. The supernova appeared within the asterism Wěi, which is located in the tail of the Scorpius constellation.
