Daniel McFarlan Moore (Northumberland, 1869 – East Orange, 1936)

Daniel McFarlan Moore (Northumberland, 1869 – East Orange, 1936) was an electrical engineer who invented the Moore lamp, the first commercial light bulb based on gas discharges instead of incandescence, deemed to be the precursor of today’s fluorescent and neon lights. He was murdered by an unemployed colleague. His killer was about to apply for a patent and went insane upon discovering that Moore already owned the rights to this invention.
