Joan Oró i Florensa, Marquess of Oró (Lleida, 1923 – Barcelona, 2004) was a doctor of biochemistry and took part in various NASA projects, such as the Apollo Programme to analyse samples from the moon. He was one of the precursors of the Panspermia Theory of the origins of life on our planet. He was a member of the Catalan Parliament. One of his most important contributions was the artificial synthesis of adenine.
